Vimy Ceremony Today

A special ceremony will be held near Saint John this afternoon to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Vimy Ridge. It was on this day in 1917 that four Canadian Divisions, for the first time under Canadian rather than British command, finally took the German World War One strong hold after years of failed attempts by the British and French. Roughly 10-thousand Canadian soldiers were killed or wounded taking Vimy. The battle is considered a defining moment in the history of our country. The Kennebecasis Legion will be holding a public ceremony at the Rothesay Common Cenotaph this afternoon at 2pm.
