THe province will be using Canadian recreational water guidelines for Parlee Beach from now on.
There have been concerns expressed about the water quality at the popular beach in recent years, since the province adopted its own standards there. The government has now admitted errors were made which didn’t give beachgoers an accurate picture about contaminated water.
Area residents have been pushing for months for the province to adopt the federal guidelines, which most provinces do, instead of the provincial system which led to understated health risks and confusion.
