A new provincial policy framework will support future options for hospice care, so now the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County can start negotiations to establish one. There are two currently approved hospices in the province: Hospice Halifax plans to open a 10-bed facility in December, while the Valley Hospice Foundation plans to begin construction this year on a facility with up to 10 beds. It’s expected to open in 2019.
