Vimy Ridge centennial to be marked at Citadel

The Halifax Citadel Regimental Association and the Army Museum Halifax Citadel working in collaboration with Parks Canada will host a variety of programs commemorating the centennial of The Battle at Vimy Ridge from April 8-12. All programs are open to the public and will feature a 21 gun salute, commemorative ceremony, military parade, and historical presentations. Visitors can also see the largest scale model of the Vimy National Memorial in Canada at the Army Museum and walk through Parks Canada’s 300 foot reconstructed trench exhibit.

Both the Army Museum and Halifax Citadel National Historic Site will be open from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. April 8-9 and 10 a.m. -4 p.m. April 10-12. As part of the 150th Anniversary of Confederation, all sites managed by Parks Canada are free to the public for 2017 including the Halifax Citadel and the entire Vimy program from April 8-12.
