Education Minister Karen Casey says 8 of the recommendations from the council on classroom conditions are being implemented immediately.
They include eliminating three provincially-mandated assessments and exams and beginning a five year moratorium on new ones. Ten other recommendations will be dealt with when the Education Department and the school boards make presentations to the council next month.
