Route 114 still washed out…and businesses are hurting

Some businesses on Route 114 are hurting badly because of that washout which has closed the highway to Fundy National Park and forced a 20 kilometre detour on a very bumpy road.

Jay Lee runs a gas station and convenience store and told the Times and Transcript he has lost about 80% of his business because of the washout. So that’s a lot less income…but his bills keep coming in and are increasingly harder to pay. He says it took him six months to recover after the last significant detour in the area in 2014…and that one only last two weeks.

Transporation Minister Bill Fraser will meet with residents and businesses in the area tomorrow to discuss the plans and timetable to fix the road.
