Some Amherst businesses call for ATV rule relaxation

James Moore, the owner of Moore’s Automotive Recreation and Sport in Amherst; along with a retired RCMP officer, wants ATV rules relaxed; that, according to the Citizen-Record.

Nova Scotia is one of two provinces who do not legally allow some form of safe road access for off-highway vehicles.

Off-highway vehicle drivers are allowed to cross roads in some circumstances, but only if it’s to continue on the trail.

Going on the road to avoid manmade or natural obstacles, or using an overpass to cross a 100-series highway is illegal.

A petition asking for the easing of restrictions can be signed at Moore’s Automotive Recreation and Sport, or Roy Duguay Sales in East Amherst; and Cobequid Mountain Sport in Collingwood.
