Video game to help emergency planners

Two Dalhousie professors have created a computer gaming scenario which may end up being used by emergency planning officials for training.

The first version of their simulator shows a catastrophic flood in Halifax. Professor Ahsan Habib says one early model suggested it would take 15 hours to evacuate the Halifax peninsula because there are only five exit points. The gaming scenario could be adjusted adding variable such as widespread panic…and how to deal with that.
