Since the shut down of the Picadilly Mine by PotashCorp in January of 2016, a number of communities in the Region 8 Service Commission area have seen their property taxes go up.
Cardwell, where the mine was located; took the highest, with a 26 per cent increase.
Sussex had an increase of 18 per cent, Hampton at 11; and Apohaqui had a 13.6 per cent increase.
