A play called “Chasing Champions – The Sam Langford Story,” produced by Ship’s Company of Parrsboro; is up for nine awards in the annual Theatre Nova Scotia Merritt Awards, which will be handed out on March 27th in Halifax.
The play is about Nova Scotia boxing legend Sam Langford, who conquered racism; poverty and injury in an incredible boxing career in the 1910s and 1920s.
It was written by and had Jacob Sampson in the title role.
