A judge has rejected a joint recommendation by the Crown and defence for the sentence of a drunk driver.
Gordon Lewis MacDonald pleaded guilty to driving with a blood alcohol level over the limit. He had a previous conviction in 2009. Despite that, the crown and defence recommended two years probation and one day in jail to be served by his appearance in court.
Judge Alain Bégin called the recommendation a farce and if he accepted it the accused would walk out of the courtroom laughing. So he adjourned sentencing until the 20th.
