Dorchester wants its roads fixed too

The Mayor of Dorchester wants to know when one of the only two roads in and out of his town will be fixed. Route 106 has been closed because of flooding three times this winter.

Mayor J.J. Bear told the Times and Transcript it’s inconvent not just for people in his village but also employees at the Penetentiary and other businesses. Bear says it doesn’t seem to be a priority for the province which has announced hundreds of millions in road work in recent years elsewhere in the province. The road runs along the CN Rail line and water can’t get under it and into the Petitcodiac River sometimes… especially at high tide.

The province and CN say they are working together on a permanent fix but won’t give any timeline.
