Missing evidence

The police chief says it was a matter of bad bookkeeping not criminal activity by cops.

Chief Jean-Michel Blais appeared before the police commission yesterday and said about 3,000 of almost 10,000 pieces of evidence are still unaccounted for. That includes drugs and cash…some of which may have been destroyed without the proper paperwork. Blais says it’s a matter of miscataloguing not any nefarious activity by officers that’s to blame. He also said his department has, or is in the process of, implementing all 34 recommendations from the auditor-general who uncovered the missing evidence.
