Cape Breton custody case

A Cape Breton mother has lost her son because he is dangerously overweight.

A judge removed the child, indentified only by the initials B.F. from his mother’s care because at the age of 5 he weighed 132 pounds when he was taken into custody by Community Services in 2015.  Justice Robert Gregan said the child was in danger of liver and other organ damage.  He has now dropped to 80 pounds.   The judge also pointed out the mother failed to deal with behavoural issues like ADHD.

He refused to allow either of the boy’s parents to visit, saying it would disrupt the progress he’s making.
