The province is looking for a new manager for Parlee Beach and nearby Murray Beach…but denies it has anything to do with poor water quality readings last summer.
The government admitted earlier this month that it made a mistake last summer in how it tabulated fecal bacteria counts in water at Parlee Beach…that the beach water was not rated properly for three weeks.
When asked by the Times and Transcript whether anyone had been disciplined, Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames replied that the government was looking for a new manager for the beaches. However, Department spokeswoman Valerie Kilfoil later said the park manager’s departure had nothing to do with what happened last summer…that they left for other reasons.
