Fired worker ordered reinstated

A Fredericton hospital lab worker, who was fired after missing more than a month of work because he was in jail, has been ordered re-instated. Labour adjudicator John McEvoy called the firing of Paul Lynch by the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital improper.

Lynch was sentenced to jail after his seventh drunk driving conviction. He said he wasn’t able to contact his bosses to tell them why he didn’t show up for work. The hospital fired him by registered mail, although the hospital was aware of rumours he had been jailed.
