Moncton rejects loan appeal from the Humanity Project

The Humanity Project won’t be getting a $200,000 from the city of Moncton.

City Council turned down the request this week from the Humanity Project and the group What Kids Need Moncton for help in buying and restoring the former Moncton Curlers’ Association building. The two groups have been sharing space there for a year. They wanted to buy and renovate it but the asking price was $450,000 but they could only raise $290,000.

Councillors rejected to request for funding after staff said the building is unsafe and fire porevention officers said it wasn’t possible to bring it up to standards.
