Premier Stephen McNeil wants teachers to know he’s committed to improving classroom conditions, and says there is money to do it. However, Stephen McNeil is also frustrated with the time it’s taken to reach a tentative agreement. McNeil says he believes this agreement responds to classroom concerns while meeting his government’s need to contain salary costs.
Many teachers say it doesn’t after getting a look at the tentative contract this week. The teachers vote on it February 8th.
