Another appeal is being filed in the case of a former Pictou County teacher on her conviction on sex-related charges involving two former Grade six students. Carolyn Amy Hood was given a 15 month conditional sentence with house arrest.
The defence tried at the trial to have her declared not criminaly responsible because of bipolar disease but the judge rejected that. Her lawyers are appealing the judge’s treatment of expert evidence.
The Crown indicated earlier this week it is also appealing the house arrest sentence, saying Hood should spend at least two years in jail.
