Corrections Service says procedures followed in inmate’s death

Correctional Services Canada says there’s no room for improvement after the death of a Newfoundland woman at the Nova Institution for Women in Truro.

A report obtained by the CBC said an investigation found staff response in the death of 38 year old Veronica Park was timely and appropriate after she complained of coughing and breathing difficulties in April 2015. The family of Park, who was serving a 3 year sentence for robbery, is suing Correctional Services for negligence and wrongful death.
