Moose Cull to Continue in Cape Breton Highlands National Park

The Cape Breton Highlands National Park Moose Cull is expected to continue in 2017. Parks Canada says it plans to continue with the third year of a four year plan to cull moose in an effort to restore the Boreal Forest around North Mountain. 50 Moose were culled in 2016 and 37 in 2015. Parks Canada says the current moose population of roughly 1800 animals is too large and is having a damaging impact on the ability of the forest to regenerate and support other wildlife. The 2017 cull is expected to take place next November or December.
