Costly drywall

A federal tribunal is calling for barriers to stay on American drywall imports.

It says U-S-made drywall dumped into Western Canada at lower than normal prices has hurt the Canadian industry in recent years. Preliminary duties imposed last September are being replaced by permanent duties which will impose a tarriff if the imports fall below a certain price. The tribunal says it’ll mean higher construction costs especially in areas like Fort McMurray, will continue.
