Cape Breton Regional Police have ordered 250 naloxone kits for its officers and jailers, according to CBC.
Naloxone can temporarily reverse the effects of an overdose from opioid drugs, like fentanyl. While there hasn’t been a lot of fentanyl turn up in the Sydney area police are sure it’s on its way, and they want to be prepared. Police say the safety of first responders is a major concern, because as little as 2 milligrams of fentanyl can kill. If officers become exposed, they will each have a naloxone kit to inject themselves.
