Judge certifies class-action suit in crash

A judge has ruled Transport Canada will be included in a class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of passengers on an Air Canada flight last year that crashed short of the runway at the Halifax airport. None of the 133 passengers was killed but over two dozen people were injured.

Justice Denise Boudreau certified the suit as a class-action yesterday and said Transport Canada will remain as a defendant because it’s responsible for navigation systems and other equipment at the airport.

The other defendants are Air Canada, the Halifax International Airport Authority, Nav Canada and Airbus which made the plane.
