First ministers meeting on climate change and healthcare funding

Provincial and territorial leaders wants a one year extension of the health funding accord with Ottawa, as they prepare to meet with the prime minister today.

Ottawa has said it will cut annual increases in federal health care transfers to 3% from 6% starting next year. The provinces say they can’t afford that and want to see the current deal extended. Today’s meeting is focused on climate change at the Prime Minister’s insistence…but tonight they will talk about healthcare funding over dinner.
