Common Council will consider whether it wants a raise at today’s meeting.
Council will discuss a report from an outside consultant, which could result in a big jump in the Mayor’s and councillors’ salaries and expenses.
Currently the Mayor makes $38,000 a year plus $19,000 in expenses for a total of $57,000. The Hay Group recommends that increase to a total of over $74,000. Councillors would go from $18,900 to $29,500 total of salary and expenses. They haven’t had a raise since 2001.
