A trial date has now been set for Thomas Ted Barrett on a murder charge in the death of Laura Catherine Jessome whose body was found in the Mira Rover in May of 2012.
The trial is set to begin September 11th. Barrett’s lawyer and the Crown will be back in court first though on May 24th to argue two applications before the judge. One is that Barrett is trying to claim that the case has taken too long to go to trial. The crown says many of the 30 adjournments have come at the request of the defence. Barret’s lawyer is also asking for a change of venue and on the admissibility of some witness statements.
