Students are back in classes today after the government did some quick backtracking yesterday.
MLAs were recalled to the legislature by the McNeil Government to deal with a bill to impose a contract on the teachers. That bill was cancelled and the legislature adjourned again.
Education Minister Karen Casey said she only received assurances on student safety during any work to rule campaign by the union yesterday morning. NSTU President Liette Doucet says she sent those assurances Friday.
Opposition leader Jamie Ballie says Casey should resign for the way this whole situation has been handled. Casey laughed that off to reporters.
