The shut-down PotashCorp mine in Penobsquis could be getting closer to being in use again, as an engineering company has gotten the bid to research the potential for its geothermal energy.
Sussex awarded just under 57 thousand dollars to Amec Foster Wheeler to do a five-month study of the geothermal energy possibilities.
Geothermal energy would be a low cost option for businesses built around the mine.
The reduction for heat and cooling costs for a company could be up to 65 per cent.
