Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale calls it a major disaster, and says Ottawa is deploying military aircraft to help battle the BC wildfires.
Another group of Mounties are also being sent to help with evacuation. The Cariboo Regional District, says about 40-thousand people have been ordered out, with another 17,000 on standby.
In addition, Nova Scotia’s crew is off to BC today to help fight the wildfires. Smoke from them is now heading into Alberta and Saskatchewan, with Alberta Health Services issuing air-quality advisories and Environment Canada doing similar for much of southwest Saskatchewan.
