The Crown has won their appeal to have an associate of the Marriott crime family designated a dangerous offender.
Shawn Michael Shea was sentenced in 2014 to five years in a federal penitentiary for the stabbing of inmate Keithen Downey at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in June 2010.
At that sentencing, Judge Anne Derrick said Shea “did not meet the criteria” for the dangerous offender designation.
Shea has been given an indeterminate sentence along with dangerous offender status.
