AG November report

The latest Auditor General report says the province’s Education Department has a casual approach to deciding on capital projects.  Michael Pickup also says the lack of an established planning process has led to inconsistent results.  He also targeted some school approvals, and says the province lacks safety and resiliency planning in transportation, communications and utilities.

Nor-Easter causes problems

The first Nor-Easter of the season blasted the province yesterday.

It caused travel disruptions at the airport and on the highways. Police shut down the Canso Causeway and parts of Highway 104 because of whiteouts…but no serious collissions were reported.

Power was knocked out to thousand and Nova Scotia Power crews went to work. Most of the problems are in the northeastern part of the province and Cape Breton with a total of more than 7,000 customers affected earlier this morning.
