Two people remain in custody for now in connection with an assault Monday in New Waterford.
The Cape Breton Popst reports 27 year old Emily Upchurch and 28 year old Gervaise Angione, are both from Ling Street and both are charged with assault and a weapons count.
They were in court briefly yesterday in connection with the assault on a man and remanded until a bail hearing tomorrow.
CBRM Council is reviewing travel expenses for councillors and staff, according to the Cape Breton Post.
Councillors are looking at eliminating the current system where they get $140 a week for travel expenses. The idea is to replace that with a system requiring receipts and travel log books. Councillor Steve Gillespie’s motion also calls for a system that would see all city employees getting expense payments to post them in detail online.
