Nova Scotia welcomed more immigrants to the province in 2016 than it has in decades. The Immigration Department says more than 48-hundred immigrants, including 15-hundred refugees, arrived in Nova Scotia in the first 10 months of 2016. That’s the highest number of newcomers to the province since years following the second world war.

Pillar of Glace Bay Business Community Passed Away
Elliot Marshall, a longtime Glace Bay businessman; has passed away in Ottawa. The Just Cuts building in downtown Glace Bay was once Elliot Marshall’s clothing store. Marshall closed the clothing store in 1998 and moved to Ottawa to be close to his daughters.
