Cape Breton arrest

The man charged with killing an off-duty police officer is back behind bars charged with violating bail conditions three times.

Christopher Garnier was arrested at a residence on Boulardrie Island in Cape Breton Sunday after Halifax police requested Cape Breton Police to pick him up. That came after Halifax police tried to find him twice at a Bedford residence.

Garnier was released on bail last December while he awaits trial on second degree murder and other charges in the death of Catherine Capbell whose body was found near the MacDonald Bridge in 2015.

Overprescription case

A South Shore doctor is set to go to trial in April on charges of drug trafficking by overprescribing drugs.  The trial was to have begun yesterday but her lawyer asked for it to be put off because of scheduling conflicts.

Dr. Sarah Dawn Jones is charged with writing prescriptions for 50,000 oxycodone and other pills for a hospital patient over a one-year period.
