Sydney River man found guilty

A Sydney River man has been found guilty in connection with the police prostitution sting operation.

The judge found 50 year old Michael Albert Perry guilty of communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services.  He’ll be sentenced May 18.  The judge didn’t buy Perry’s testimony that he was just curious about what the woman was doing and that he was role playing.  The woman was an undercover cop.

In all, 27 men were arrested during the sting operation in August and September of 2015.

Ice storm report

There were still several dozen customers without power earlier this morning after the ice storm, mainly small and individual outages.

A lot of trees and branches came down because of ice buildup over several hours which also made driving treacherous and led to a lot of closures.

And there’s more nasty spring weather on the way.  Environment Canada issued a special weather statement saying showers or flurries are on the way this afternoon changing to snow this evening, could be 10-15cms; with strong northerly winds early tomorrow drifting it up.
