Louisbourg decision

A judge has found an Indian Brook man not guilty on assault and B&E charges, according to the Cape Breton Post.

24 year old Lance Colton Bernard was charged after an incident in July of 2015 at Louisbourg.  After hearing evidence at the trial, Judge Ann Marie MacInnes said she was left with reasonable doubt as to just what occurred and she found him not guilty.

MacEwan funeral

The funeral was held yesterday for Paul MacEwan who passed away last week at the age of 74.

MacEwan was elected to the legislature in 1970 and stayed there for 33 years under different parties.  The Cape Breton Post reports he was remembered as a tireless advocate for his community and a champion of the people.  Fr. Paul Murphy said during the service Paul would do what he could for you, for he believed in the dignity and the rights of the little person, that Paul’s life work consisted of sacrifice and service.
