CBU grant

A team of female professionals at CBU has been given $50,000 to try to get more high school girls to enroll in science, technology, engineering and math programs.

The funding from the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada expands on current efforts to get more girls involved in the sciences.  Stephanie MacQuarrie, an associated professor in organic chemistry, had established a CBU women in science and engineering program as a one-day retreat for junior and high school girls.  There was also an associated mentoring program connecting young women to experienced women in the field of science and engineering.  Now any young woman who is interested can seek mentorship.
