Car Chase

Police arrested four people after a slow chase through North Sydney in the early hours Friday morning.
Police were first called around 1:30 a.m. for a report that two people were stealing a pickup truck from Cogan’s Service Centre on Commercial Street, the main road through North Sydney.
Shortly after, police say a patrolling officer spotted a similar truck, still on Commercial Street, a few blocks away.
Although the police officer turned on flashing lights and followed the stolen pickup, the driver continued for about 1.5 kilometres in a loop through the nearby neighbourhood, eventually stopping on Park Street.
While the police officer was arresting the three passengers for joyriding, the 31-year-old driver ran off toward Regent Street.
Police eventually arrested him in a home on Queen Street.

Beer Fest

Dubbed the “largest celebration of craft beer on Cape Breton Island,” this inaugural Cape Breton Beer Fest is about more than the frosty brews on tap. Featuring an assortment of craft and microbreweries, the festival also aims to celebrate Cape Breton culture, music and food. The festival will be split into an afternoon session (2-4:30 p.m.) and an evening session (7-9:30 p.m.) today.
