Refugee group touts how Chester bakery benefitted after rule changes

A Nova Scotia refugee group says Ruwad Al Badin a good example of how Canadians can benefit from refugees.

Al Badin is a specialist in French pastries, which is just the kind of employee that Julien’s bakery in Chester needed after a federal rule change made it harder to import chefs from France.

He is now supporting his family and helping the rural business that had been struggling keep local people employed.

William, Olivia 2016’s most popular baby names in NS

The most popular baby names in Nova Scotia this year were William and Olivia.  After that, the most popular names for girls were Abigail, Ava, Emma and Charlotte; while for boys they were Benjamin, Oliver, Noah and Liam.  The Nova Scotia Registry of Vital Statistics reports 7318 births as of last weekend.
