Sussex Skate Club award

The head coach of the Sussex Skate Club, Stacey Charlton; has won a national award from the Skate Canada Club for excellence in coaching.

In June, Charlton will be flown out to Ontario, all expenses paid; to get the award from Skate Canada.

She developed a new program that allows disabled kids to be able to skate alongside able-bodied skaters, using sledges.

She also organized a sledge hockey league.

Belleisle Bay Ice Break-Up

The third annual Belleisle Bay Ice Break-Up 50-50 lottery is now underway in Hatfield Point, about 40 kilometers southwest of Sussex.

Tickets are two dollars, in which people guess the exact day and time the ice will break.

Money raised goes to the Belleisle Watershed Coalition.

Tickets are available at local stores such as Belleisle Creek Convenience or Valleyview in Midland.

The winner will be announced May 4th at the Springfield Community Centre.
