Police Chief criticized over pot shop raids

A medical marijuana advocacy group says Police Chief John Bates is sending mixed signals on marijuanna dispensaries in the city.

Maritimers Unite for Medical Marijuana Society is denouncing the raids on six stores this week which resulted in the arrest of 12 owners and employees. The Society points out Bates told CBC last year medical cannabis wasn’t a top priority and his force had bigger fish to fry. Now Bates say the department has done more research and believes the dispensaries were operating illegally.
