Two frigates leave Halifax for west Africa

Two navy ships are sailing across the Atlantic to west Africa for a training exercise.

H-M-C-S Moncton and H-M-C-S Summerside left Halifax for the Gulf of Guinea region Saturday. They will take part in a training event led by the U-S Navy. The ships will be visiting ports in the Canary Islands, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire.

Atlantic premiers meet

Premier Brian Gallant and the other Atlantic premiers are meeting in Newfoundland today talking about how the four provinces can better co-operate.

The Council of Atlantic Premiers was established in 2000.
