NB teachers being recruited for Louisianna

New Brunswick teachers are being recruited to teach French to their Cajun cousins.

Peggy Feehan, who is formerly from Kedgwick, is now teaching in Louisianna…and looking for French teachers to move there. Feehan told the Times and Transcript she’ll be returning home next month to do some recruiting. They’re asking for a three year committment…and she says typically they get new teachers looking for classroom experience, supply teachers looking for a full time job and teachers lookingy for an interesting sabbatical.

Ottawa removing wind turbines from Sable Island

The wind farm on Sable Island is being abandoned by the federal government.

Ottawa is scrapping the five wind turbines which were to reduce the island’s dependance on fossil fuels. Officials point to the Island’s harsh conditions and extreme isolation as major factors for giving up on the 15 year long initiative.

So far, almost a million dollars has been spent on the project with another $150,000 for decomissioning of the turbines already there.
