Tories want everyone to appeal assessment increases

Conservative leader Blaine Higgs is advising all property owners who saw an increase in their assessments this year to appeal, according to CBC.

The government has acknowledged mistakes were made on 2,400 property tax notices just saying it was miscalculations…but nothing more specific.

So Higgs says the opposition has no alternative but to ask all New Brunswickers to appeal their property tax assessments if they have increased this year, since the government refuses to publicize the issue or extend the deadline for appeals to all New Brunswickers.

Surgery concerns in Saint John

Horizon Health is trying to deal with what some are calling a crisis in thoracic surgeries in the Saint John region. Officials are scrambling to come up with alternative plans to diagnose and treat patients, according to CBC.

Horizon Health has only said no thoracic surgery coverage is available in the zone covering Sussex to St. Stephen because the only specialized  surgeon on staff is unavailable…and likely to continue for at least another four weeks.
