Minimum wage goes up tomorrow

There’ll be a small raise for minimum wage earners tomorrow. It’s going up from $10.65 an hour to an even $11.00.

Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault said increasing the minimum wage will put more money in the pockets of hard-working New Brunswickers and have a positive effect on the provincial economy, so families can continue to live and work here in New Brunswick.”

Opposition parties want enforcement of marijuana laws eased for now

The four opposition parties in the province want enforcement of marijuanna possession laws suspended for now.

Ottawa has signalled it intends to legalize pot by July of next year…but the Prime Minister says it’s still illegal until then.

Conservatives, New Democrats, Green Party and the People’s Alliance all want marijuana decriminalized now, so people won’t be punished for possessing small quantities of the drug before it’s made legal.  They point out charging people for simple possession between now and then opens up acquittals and challenges which will tie up the court system.
