Common Council is beginning the process of getting ready for marijuana.
Councillors asked city staff to look at changing zoning bylaws to allow for marijuanna production facilities. A public hearing will be held May 1.
Moncton and Fredericton already permit medical marijuana production facilities with their zoning bylaws and Saint John is playing catch up. Deputy Mayor Shirley McAlary says, just in case something comes Saint John’s way, they want to be ready.
