Market Square evacuated because of ecigarettes

The fire alarms went off at Market Square yesterday afternoon and the building was evacuated. Customers and staff were rushed out the doors as fire crews arrived, according to the Telegraph-Journal.

There was no fire. It appears the fire alarm was triggered by teens vaping e-cigarettes. Those fumes are what triggered the alarm.

The all-clear was given after less than 15 minutes and shoppers were allowed back in.

Measles case turns up in NB

New Brunswick is reporting its first case of measles this week.

The acting chief medical officer of health, Dr. Jennifer Russell, told the Daily Gleaner she couldn’t be specific about the age of the person or where they live…just that the infection may be connected to the measles outbreak in Nova Scotia where over 20 people have been confirmed with it. It’s believed that outbreak is travel-related…connected to an airline flight.

She says New Brunswick has had a good response to people getting the MMR vacinne with about 90 per cent of school-age children getting it before they begin kindgarten.
