Students at UdeM say they are being used by companies as unpaid labour under student internship programs…and they want changes, according to CBC.
The student federation at the Universite de Moncton has launched a campaign to get the Gallant Government to bring in financial measures to help students who must complete unpaid internships as part of their degree.
Sometimes they have to work for free for several months in order to get their degree. There are also added costs like medical or safety equipment, vaccinations in health professions, transportation to and from the job, accomodations if they have to work outside the city.
