People took to the streets of Montreal on May Day yesterday to protest what they called the scheming rich. The group calls itself the anticapitalist convergence and has demonstrated on International Workers’ Day for ten years.
This time it turned violent. Several in the crowd threw canisters of pink gas at police, who fired tear gas back. Red flags, black masks and other debris littered the streets after the smoke cleared with the protestors vanishing into the subway system.
